Kunststrom Lab programme 2024

As part of the Kunststrom Lab, collaborative exhibitions and workshops are taking place this summer at E-WERK Luckenwalde, focussing on solar energy, regional bio-based materials and artistic options for action with regard to the energy transition.

The Kunststrom Labor, or Kunststrom Lab for short, is a participatory studio in which Kunststrom power is researched, developed and produced through an innovative cultural and educational programme. The focus is on research and the development of prototypes for innovative concepts in the fields of art, energy and society.

Kunststrom manifests itself in art installations, sculptures, performances and interventions that utilise various renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind and pyrolysis to generate electricity. As a non-profit energy supplier, Kunststrom feeds into the public grid and supplies customers throughout Germany, who support the development of renewable energy, socio-cultural strategies and contemporary art through their ancillary costs.

The Kunststrom Lab is located on the grounds of E-WERK Luckenwalde and comprises a multifunctional production space for materials research, ceramics, electronics and programming, as well as workshops for photovoltaics, which are integrated into the historic machine cellars. The outdoor area of the Kunststrom Lab is complemented by a spacious open space, the so-called Werkhof.

Exhibition - stiction
26 July - 04 August 2024
In collaboration with Bauhaus Erde
In the exhibition "stiction", alumni and students of the Berlin University of the Arts and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf are exhibiting at Stadtbad Live in Luckenwalde. The Stadtbad Luckenwalde (built in 1929) is a historic building designed by Bauhaus architect Hans Hertlein and is located next to the E-WERK Luckenwalde. The theme of the exhibition is an in-depth exploration of the concept of energy. Stiction, for example, is the force that two touching static objects exert on each other. It is the force that must be overcome in order to set one or both objects in motion.

In preparation for the exhibition, an open workshop took place in collaboration with Bauhaus Erde on 4/5 July 2024.

The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, 26 July from 16:00 - 23:30.
